Description
They had to work a lot in 2020, and the 2020 Aluvional Los Chacayes was harvested a little earlier and has a slightly paler color. The do shorter macerations in the warm vintages, and this wine is quite impressive, with similar ripeness and alcohol (14.5%) as the 2019 I tasted next to it and just as impressive. It’s velvety and lightly textured, with a fluid sensation, very fine tannins and a serious, long and dry finish. This is harvested earlier than Altamira. It’s from high altitude, but the mountain is far away and the grapes ripen thoroughly. The wines deliver aromatic herbs and ripe berries, and here, they challenge is to remove the fat and have a svelte wine. 3,500 bottles were filled in June 2021 after maturing in raw concrete. This whole range is unoaked. It’s approachable even if very young, and it has everything to develop nicely in bottle. Drink date: 2023-2032. Score – 96.
