Gérard Bertrand Heritage An 1886 Les Aspres Grenache/Mourvèdre/Syrah 2019

Made in the same manner as the Tautavel An 560 bottling but using just 40% Grenache, with the balance split equally between Mourvèdre and Syrah, the 2019 Côtes du Roussillon Villages Les Aspres An 1886 offers up scents of fine leather, licorice and black cherries, without the more floral flourishes of its stablemate. It’s medium to full-bodied, supple and streamlined, with an easy flow across the palate and a long, spice-driven finish. This vintage, it’s my ever-so-slight preference. Drink date: 2021-2027.
