Domaine Huet Moelleux Clos du Bourg Vouvray 2001

Description

2001 was supposedly not a good vintage for sweet wine, but this one is rather attractive. Deep golden, and theme carries: all the way through: golden pear, golden apple, grilled pineapple. On the palate, there’s apricot nectar and honey balanced by good fresh acidity. At first fruity, then serious chalky minerality at midpalate, a smokiness even a touch of tobacco, with a finish that’s austere and precise. 48 grams per liter residual sugar.
