Santenay Les Charmes Dessus is a clear and knowable step up from Savigny for Bourgone Blanc out of 2023. Not only is there more pulpy character and vibrancy but complexity rides wild and alive. Aging in and around half new wood augments, accents and spices up fruit pulled from vines out of a 0.4 hectare, 20-odd year-old block planted below Les Charmes in Santenay. Such a lovely, graceful and elegant chardonnay here, balanced and generous enough to impress while punching well above its weight. Drink 2025-2029. Tasted March 2025. Score – 92.
