Kew Soldier’s Grant 2023

Description

Soldier’s Grant is a blend of 38% Cabernet Franc, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, made partially in the appassimento process and matured in French oak for eighteen months. The oak does present an obvious, resinous/varnished note on the nose here atop the ripe currant/raspberry fruit. Also considerable herbality. It is medium-full bodied, warm, shrubby and earthy on the palate. And quite tannic now. Excellent length! I would cellar this about three years – it could go ten, and the oak will subside.
