Herdade do Rocim 2021

Description

The 2021 Tinto (the estate red with just Herdade do Rocim on the label) is a blend of 40% Touriga Nacional and 30% each of Aragonez and Alicante Bouschet, all aged for six months in 40% new French oak. It comes in at 14.1% alcohol. Fruit forward, this is bursting with flavor, primarily blue fruits, but it adds some ripe tannins and some focus to go with the exuberant young fruit. This is a summer red in style, but one with a bit of distinction that might actually become more interesting in a year. They aren’t necessarily intended for much cellaring, though, so enjoy that exuberant fruit. Drink date: 2022-2030. Score – 88. (Mark Squires, robertparker.com, July 29, 2022)
